The 604 has local music scene that can’t be beat, as well as a live music scene that can’t be beat. Combine those and it’s, well, unbeatable. This month, go and support a local band in a local venue. See one of these sure-to-be-fantastic shows.
October 5 – 8
Japandroids – The Cobalt, Vancouver
These Vancouver garage rockers are playing four consecutive shows. A couple of the dates have already sold out, so grab your tickets quick. These guys are all about the noise: a two piece that sounds like a full band.
Psych Fest – Fortune Sound Club, Vancouver
Although headliners L.A. Witch are from (you guessed it) Los Angeles, the Psych Fest line up is packed with great local talent, covering psych, garage and metal. Make sure to see Dead Ghosts and Astrakhan.
The Brass Action – Rickshaw Theatre, Vancouver
Enjoy classic ska punk from these local lads as they support The Interrupters and Bad Cop/Bad Cop at the Rickshaw.
The Schatzis – Crimson Cafe, Abbotsford
Hailing from Chilliwack, these pop punkers and self-proclaimed “good-time boys” are sure to put on a good show.
My Mother The Carjacker – The Media Club, Vancouver
Go see this oddly but awesomely named band for a show that somehow mixes grunge with funk and comes up roses.
The Strugglers – SBC Restaurant, Vancouver
These East Van garage punks are just the sort of band you should see at a venue like SBC. They both favour energy over execution, and in both cases, it works.
