Monday, January 29

Riding | Shred For The Cause

Mt Seymour’s popular Shred For The Cause fundraiser is back again. Previously known as “Shred for the Cure”, the event supports The Bloom Group, a local non-profit organization that helps the most vulnerable citizens of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Every Monday from January 22nd to March 26th, ladies pay a $15 donation to ski and ride from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. $5 from every lift ticket will be going to The Bloom Group. Normal prices range from $18 – $33.

Skating | Robson Square Ice Rink

The Robson Square Ice Rink is open this weekend and will host free skates daily until Wednesday, February 28th, 2018. Skating is free for all ages. Those who own their own skates are welcome to use them. Skate rentals are $4, and rentals end 30 minutes before closing time. Furthermore, helmets are mandatory for children 12 and under. Robson Square Ice Rink will offer rentals and accept cash only.

British comedian Ricky Gervais is bringing his worldwide Humanity Tour to Vancouver this week on Monday, January 29th, 2018. The show will take place at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and begins at 7:30 p.m.

After selling out his first few UK shows instantly, Ricky Gervais added the second leg of the UK tour with fourteen new dates. This includes four nights at London’s Hammersmith Apollo this October.

Exhibition | The Fabric of Our Land

The Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC with the Musqueam Indian Band present the remarkable new exhibition The Fabric of Our Land: Salish Weaving. It’s on display from Sunday, November 19th – Sunday, April 15th, 2018. Curated by Susan Rowley in collaboration with Salish weavers, this exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the past 200 years of Salish wool weaving.

Dine Out Vancouver kicked off January 19th and goes on until February 4th, 2018. Multi-course meals are offered at set prices of either $20, $30, or $40.

Exhibition | City on Edge

The Museum of Vancouver (MOV) explores the history of our city’s street protests with City on Edge: A Century of Vancouver Activism. It’s a major, new photo-based exhibition on display until Sunday, February 18th, 2018.

Networking | Women In Tech Regatta

A curated collection of events, workshops and conversations designed to connect women in tech to mentors, peers, resources and to the power of community.

Arts | PuSh International Performing Arts Festival

The 2018 PuSh International Performing Arts Festival presents groundbreaking theatre, dance, music, multimedia and film. Catch it all at Vancouver venues from Tuesday, January 16th – Sunday, February 4th, 2018. Featuring artists from 11 countries, the 14th annual PuSh Festival showcases thought-provoking works from the intimate and immersive, to the monumental and spectacular.


Show | The Aliens

Seventeen-year- old Evan (Teo Saefkow) is eking out his summer working at the cafe. When he meets the two young men he is irresistibly drawn to their world of magic mushrooms, philosophical musings and great-bands – that never-were. The Aliens runs for approximately 2 hours, with a 15 minute intermission. This show contains strong language, and mature themes.

Alt-pop phenom Lights is kicking off her We Were Here Tour in Vancouver. Two shows will take place on Tuesday, January 30th and Wednesday, January 31st, 2018. She’ll be joined on stage in Vancouver by Chase Atlantic and DCF.

Hockey | Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks host the Colorado Avalanche at Rogers Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Comedy | Full Pint Comedy

It costs you just five dollars to see top touring comedians you’ve seen on Just For Laughs, CBC, The Comedy Network, and back at our first show: Kings Head Comedy. Not to mention, beers from Granville Island’s delicious list of rotating taps are just $4.50 for 16oz and $5.50 for 20oz.

Wednesday, January 31

Exercise | New Year’s Tai Chi Classes

VancouverLearn safe and simple movements, basic training, concepts and theory, culminating in the introductory “18-Form” set. These classes take place every Thursday at Coal Harbour Community Centre until March 21st.

Seafood | East Coast Boil

Tickets get you free Alexander Keiths, a mountain of fresh East Coast seafood, live music by The Sheets, and Screech In ceremony. It all takes place at Portside Pub from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Art | The Pancakes and Booze Art Show

Vancouver’s largest underground art show is back with over 75 emerging artists, a free pancake bar, live body painting, and live performances. Tickets start at $10.
