Vancouver Chinatown Festival 2019

Vancouver Chinatown Festival

As one of the largest summer multicultural events in B.C., the Vancouver Chinatown Festival is an event that the whole family is welcome to attend.

Taking place on Saturday, August 10th, the Vancouver Chinatown Business Improvement Area Society (VCBIA) will transform Vancouver’s historic Chinatown into a giant street festival.

This free event has attracted over 50,000 attendees in past years and much of the same is expected this year. For 2019, the festival theme features martial arts (Kung Fu) performances.

Festivities will include traditional arts and crafts from around the world, Chinatown walking tours, an open-air market filled with exotic goods, multicultural stage performances, games for kids of all ages, and a live band.

There’s more.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy:

  • Lion dance at the opening ceremony
  • Traditional dancing and cultural performances
  • Kung Fu competitions
  • Climb the Wall
  • Mobile Aquarium
  • Over 20 multicultural food trucks
  • Photobooth with TD
  • Wheel of Fortune
  • Tamiya Mini 4WD racing in Vancouver,
  • Magic performance
  • Chinatown Outdoor Movie Night (Starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Main Stage)

Parking and Shuttle Service

Parking for the event will be limited. Biking, walking or transit is encouraged by organizers.

In addition, a free shuttle bus service has been set up for this year. The bus stop is across the Waterfront Station on West Cordova St (600 W Cordova St, Vancouver) in downtown Vancouver. This bus will run every 30 minutes from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

In addition, a free bike valet will also be set up at the festival.
