To the disappointment of many, one of last year’s biggest holiday hits will not be returning to Vancouver this year.

Enchant Christmas dazzled people of all ages during the holiday season of 2016, but the event announced that it won’t be entertaining the city this time around.

Organizers cite that they were unable to find a suitable location for the event, and therefore will not be hosting in Vancouver this winter. Specifically, Enchant required a larger space with better drainage and parking.

As a result, the event is moving to Arlington, Texas to hold its festive display. It’s safe to say that many Vancouverites will be disappointed.

Holding the world’s largest light maze, it was a beautiful activity for family and friends to enjoy.

The news paves way for the Winter Magic Festival, a new Christmas themed event slated to make its debut at the Richmond Night Market later this year.

Statement From Enchant Christmas

In the press release below organizers note the the city cooperated, but a suitable location wasn’t found.

Thank you, Vancouver, for your generous support as we launched our inaugural event, Enchant Christmas. The experience was a great success and we are filled with ideas to make Enchant even more magical.

To provide the best holiday experience for both patrons and vendors, it’s imperative that we find a larger space with good drainage and adequate parking. While the City has been supportive in helping us find a new location, we have been unable to find something suitable for 2017. Therefore, Enchant Christmas will not take place in our hometown this year. Our hope is that one day soon we will be able to find a location, where we can once again bring you one-of-a-kind holiday memories.

In the meantime, Enchant Christmas will continue to spread Christmas cheer as we make our U.S. debut in Arlington, Texas, the home of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. We are honored that this Canadian company will bring a holiday experience to the Lone Star State like they never have seen before. We promise to make Vancouver proud!

Thank you again for your continued support. We wish you all a very merry and bright Christmas season!

There will still a number of festive events and activities to partake in throughout the city this winter, including skiing at Whistler Blackcomb and the Vancouver Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.
