A Dump Truck With No One Behind The Wheel Tragically Takes Two Lives

Two people were tragically killed in a tragic accident on Tuesday, September 5th in Coquitlam when a construction dump truck rolled onto Lougheed highway.

The massive dump truck, known as an earth mover, had no one behind the wheel when it began to roll down a steep hill at around 3:30 p.m. It gained increased momentum as it rolled down the hill. Eventually it struck three vehicles near Pitt River Road before it rolled on top of the Sedan where it stopped.

Dump Truck Causes Two Fatal Injuries

The earth mover’s operator, a man in his 30s, was killed when he reportedly tried to stop the vehicle from rolling onto the highway.


Another woman in her 60s was killed in the passenger side of one of the cars that was struck by the truck.

One of the of the cars ended up in a ditch and the other two vehicles were significantly smashed.

Coquitlam RCMP is conducting an investigation with witness interviews to discern the the sequence of events and any wrongdoing.

The earth mover is also being tested for any mechanical fallibility.
