Canadian Passport Ranks In The Top Five Most Powerful In The World

People may not always associate Canada with immense power; however, the Canadian passport ranked as one of the world’s most powerful in a recent global survey.

On May 22nd, a release from London stated that the Canadian document made the top five in the world. The study is called the Henley & Partners Passport Index, and it includes 199 different passports and 227 different travel destinations.

What’s more, they update the the document in real-time throughout the year, when visa-policy changes come into effect. As a result, it is the most reliable index of its kind. 

Japan claimed the top spot this year, as it offers its citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to a record total of 189 destinations. Last year, Germany ranked number one, and this year it fell behind Japan by one visa waiver.

The UAE, in 23rd place, remains the fastest overall climber on the index, ascending 38 places since 2008.

3. Finland, France, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Sweden

  • Visa-free access to 186 countries

5. Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Switzerland

  • Visa-free access to 185 countries

Canada ranked second in the world this year on a survey that measures the quality of life in countries around the world.
