Ever wonder if Vancouver’s Olympic Cauldron gets re-lit? If so, just how much is it costing the city?
Well, research shows that B.C. Pavillion Corporation is regularly reigniting the flame in accordance to celebrations that happen in the cauldron’s surroundings.
Basically, the minimum charge is $5,000 dollars for up to 4 hours, which is calculated from the time the cauldron is lit until the time it is let out. Since the cauldron doesn’t get lit up everyday, the price seems fair for the attention and beauty it displays.
The cauldron is made up of four glass and steel arms, and was constructed by FortisBC for Vancouver’s 2010 Olympic Games. The last time the cauldron was lit up was for the opening of Cactus Club’s new Coal Harbour restaurant that is on top of the Vancouver Convention Centre.
What are your thoughts on the price to light up a now significant symbol of Vancouver history?
