There’s no better place for a budding performer to get in front of an audience than at an open mic night. It’s a great way to build up your confidence and hone your stagecraft before, potentially, trying to book some shows.

Whether you sing, play an instrument or recite poetry (or perform in any other way, for that matter) here are some open mic nights you might like to attend.
Vancouver
The Fairview hosts an open mic night every Monday from 8pm. Located at 898 West Broadway.
Every Tuesday night, Grant Street Social House is home to the East Side Open Mic. Sign-up is from 7:30pm, and performances start at 8pm. Located at 1510 Commercial Drive.
New Westminster
Old Crow serves up an open mic entertainment on the third Thursday of every month from 8pm. Check out their Instagram for details of the next event. Located at 655 Front Street.
Also on Mondays, is the Heritage Grill’s open mic night. People can get on stage or just spectate from 8pm Located at 447 Columbia Street.
Burnaby
Every Monday, the Great Bear hosts an ‘open jam’, stating that all musicians and all musical styles are welcome on stage from 9pm. Located at 5665 Kingsway.
Squamish
Sign-up is from 8pm at the Howe Sound Brewpub’s open mic nights. Check out their events page for dates, the next one is on September 26.
Abbotsford
Abbotsford musicians and performers should look forward to the first Monday of every month, when they can show off their skills at O’Neill’s open mic night. Located at 33771 Gosling Avenue.
The Fraser Valley Poets Society holds regular poetry open mic nights at the Clearbrook Library from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Keep an eye on their website for dates. Located at 32320 George Ferguson Way.
