Bellis Fair Mall Clears Up “At Par” Misunderstanding With Apology

After many unsatisfied Canadian customers crossed the border for what was supposed to be at par shopping, Bellis Fair mall in Bellingham has finally responded with an apology.

Rene Morris the mall’s general manager said in a statement to KGMI.

“I want to apologize to any Canadian shopper who was at Bellis Fair and found that information wasn’t totally correct. We have always from the very beginning, stated that because our retailers were unable to accept foreign currency, a discount of 25 per cent off of all purchases was available at participating retailers”.

Canadian shoppers told various news outlets that what was actually offered was nothing close to the at par promise, saying very few stores were actually participating at all and the ones that were only offered 20% off the merchandise.

According to Morris, the mall never said anything about accepting Canadian currency since only a handful of retailers can. She also adds that to accommodate Canadians that hadn’t exchanged their money a currency exchange was set up at one of their kiosks.

On the website Bellis Fair has now clarified the misunderstanding stating in bold:

The discount is applied in the form of an additional percentage off at point of sale, not to exceed 25%

In the original advertisement, Bellis Fair stated the sale would be for all Canadian long weekends of 2016. If you are still lured to cross the border for the 25% discount a list of all the participating retailers can be found below:
