According to a post by Sabrina Counsell, a man believed to be in his late 30’s posed as a repairman to steal cash, phones, and other electronics. After striking at the Langley location, he reportedly visited the Earls in Surrey’s Guildford neighbourhood and repeated the sting.
Upon the Facebook post going viral, it was later updated to note other nearby restaurants also faced the same deception. In addition to Earls, restaurants include Milestones, and Red Robin.
