Get The Great Outdoors In The Palm Of Your Hand With New Adventure App ‘Yervana’

A new app just launched in Vancouver and it’s exclusively for those who love to explore.

Yervana is a unique platform looking to connect adventure seekers throughout the province with personalized adventures in the great outdoors.

Similar to Uber and Airbnb Experiences—users can find locals to guide them on adventures to specific BC destinations.

Locals who are knowledgeable in a specific area of exploration (ie: mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing, skiing or canoeing) can host an experience through the app. Those looking to get into those outdoor hobbies or just meet other people with similar passions can join the experience and have a guide take care of all the details.

To kick things off, the experiences curated are in the Vancouver, and Sea-to-Sky corridor (Squamish, Whistler).

Founded by Jim McGovern, Yervana was created to give outdoor lovers a platform to connect with adventurous locals who could show them the ropes.

“People today are all about connections and community, they’re more interested in work-life balance, which is really powerful,” he says. “They’re using technology to get away from the traditional model so you can get what you want, instead of what corporations want you to have. Yervana is part of a larger movement, it’s a way for people to turn something they love into a community. Everyone uses the beaten path, and Yervana has found the path that’s less beaten.”

The free app is currently only available to download for iPhone users, but that is expected to change in the near future.

Once you have downloaded the app, you can search and pay for personalized outings with qualified adventurers who are offering one-of-a-kind experiences.

These are just a few of the incredible adventures available on the app:

Secret Hike in Squamish

Discover a hidden gem only locals know about at this $50 adventure in Squamish. The 4-hour hike will give you incredible views and a chance to see the sunrise or sunset. The guide will also provide snacks, drinks and a charcuterie board to enjoy with the best backdrop imaginable.

Snowshoe to Cypress Mountain’s Hidden Cabins

Discover dozens of whimsical log cabins dispersed throughout the forest during this $50 tour. Light snacks will also be available.

Stargazing and Long Exposure Photography Lesson in Porteau Cove

For $60 you can join in on this 5-hour adventure in the beautiful Porteau Cove. Your guide will show you the best spot to stargaze while you sip on a cup of hot chocolate and learn about night photography from a professional photographer.

Other activities include a photography and mountain bike adventure, and a circuit showing the best swimming spots on Salt Spring Island—just to name a few.
