A Little Taste of MEZCAL (La Mezcaleria Review)

La Mezcaleria Review

La Mezcaleria or ‘Mezcal‘, located on Commercial Drive, has everything one would want in a restaurant: authentic cuisine, delicious drinks and live music. Opened by the people who run ‘La Taqueria’ off of Cambie street, Mezcal offers the same great food but is aimed at more of a late-night crowd.

From the open-concept kitchen, chefs prepare quintessential Mexican dishes such as tacos, guacamole, tortilla soup and more. The menu also includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

When it comes to drinks they have over 28 types of mezcal (an alcoholic spirit derived from the agave plant) to choose from and collection of tequila that could make anyones clothes fall off. If you can’t decide what to choose you can always order a flight and sample a few different varieties.

La Mezcaleria Review

Besides their spirits they have beer, wine and Mexican inspired cocktails. During their

Happy Hour they offer local craft beer for $3, El Jimador Silver and Reposado shots for $4, wine starting at $5 a glass, a Mexican style gin and tonic called ‘Gin for Jaime’ and classic margaritas for $8.

They open at 5pm everyday except Mondays. Any night is a good night to visit Mezcal but here are a few things to keep in mind.

Tuesday-Thursday: Happy Hour from 5-6:30pm

Wednesday & Sunday: Live Mariachi Band

Friday & Saturday: Happy Hour from midnight-1:30am & Live DJ’s 10pm-2am

Mezcal is the type of place you can go for a quality dinner or just to have some late night snacks, listen to good music and drink tequila until the sun rises (well until 2am…). A quote from their website says it best “PARA TODO MAL MEZCAL, PARA TODO BIEN TAMBIEN”. For everything bad, Mezcal; For everything good, the same.

Arriba !
