Forget using champagne to toast to a New Year; it’s all about craft beer. Vancouver is a city in love with craft beer, and nowhere is that more evident that at the CRAFT Beer Market — which makes it the perfect place to ring in the New Year. No doubt recognizing that themselves, the market has stepped up to the plate with an excellent way to end 2016 and begin 2017.
Attendees at the ‘Best of 2016 New Year’s Eve Brewmaster’s Dinner Party’ will enjoy a four-course set menu along with the perfect beer pairings. There will also be party favours, champagne at midnight (if you can tear yourself away from the fantastic beers) and dancing. The amount of beer consumed will either preclude you from or improve your skills at that last one.
Get a peek of the tantalising menu and beer pairings on CRAFT’s Facebook page. It starts out with a mushroom and bacon ragout washed down with the Belgian Delirium Tremens, moving onto salmon crudo with Kitchen Gose Mad (a sour collaboration between CRAFT and Steamworks), then braised chuck flat with Four Winds IPA, and finishing with a dark chocolate terrine and Phillips’ Longboat Chocolate Porter. How can you say no to that?
Of course, in addition to the beer pairings, CRAFT will, as ever, be carrying more different beers than you can shake a stick at. If you are keen to go, get your tickets soon. Two reasons: one, they’ll likely sell out, and two, the early bird price of $65 is only available until Wednesday, December 21.
