Fright Nights at Playland 2013 [REVIEW]

Fright Nights at Playland

Fright Nights at Playland is back for another Halloween season scarier than ever! This year, the haunted theme park features 6 Haunted Houses, 12 rides, a freaky sideshow, and The Monsters of Schlock.

What makes Fright Nights at Playland even spookier this year? the potential that it is ACTUALLY haunted. (SEE: PNE Recently Inspected By Paranormal Society of Vancouver)

604 Now was at Playland for the 2013 debut of Fright Nights and little did we know what we were in for! Walking through the fair ground alone is a test of bravery. Roaming the foggy park is Freddy Krueger, Leatherface with his chain saw, and dozens of other “professional scarers” awaiting your arrival. Be aware, they sneak up on you unexpectedly!

The main attraction is of course the Haunted Houses. Each house is equipped with a different theme making them all creepy in their own ways.

To get an idea of which Haunted House is the scariest, we waited outside the exit of each house and asked a random 10 people exiting each Haunted House to rate their experience on a scare scale of 1-10. 1 being it made you yawn, and 10 being they nearly pee’d themselves at one point. We averaged the ratings for a final score, see below:

1. Hollywood Horrors
Description: Killers stalk the halls patiently waiting for their next victims.
Location: Next to the Westcoast Ferris Wheel.
Average rating on our scare scale: 9.3

2. Fear
Description: Fear brings you face-to-face with your innermost nightmares. What are you afraid of?
Location: Next to Music Express.
Average rating on our scare scale: 8.9

3. Asylum
Description: Impatient doctors perform insane medical crimes.
Location: Next to the Revelation.
Average rating on our scare scale: 5.7

4. Haunted Mansion
Description: Encounter the destructive descendants of the Van Horn family who stalk the halls of the large manor waiting.. for you.
Location: Next to Hell’s Gate.
Average rating on our scare scale: 7.7

5. Car-N-Evil
Description: Coulrophobia is an abnormal or exaggerated fear of clowns. The term is common, but it does not appear to be used in psychology.
Location: Behind the Crazy Beach Party.
Average rating on our scare scale: 8.3

6. Darkness
Description: Witness the fate of those who dared to bargain with the Angel of Death. But be warned: within these walls lurk creatures born of pure evil, who exist only to torment and torture those who are lost in Darkness.
Location: Adjacent to the Hellevator
Average rating on our scare scale: 9.5

For you major thrill seekers out there, try riding the rickety-old wooden roller coaster. Here’s the best part – it’s all in the dark! Feel your stomach drop and your palms sweat as you fly through the pitch-black sky in a seat so old you feel like you’re barely strapped in. (It’s over 50 years old)
